Northeast Fl- One of the hottest boys basketball teams in the area is the Paxon Golden Eagles who improved to 8-1 on the season Tuesday night after rolling Beachside 61-41 at home. They are starting as hot as they did last year, when they won 13 of their first 14 games of the season.
Paxon’s guard Dameon Jones Jr has started out hot as well, leading the offense in many areas. Jones is a floor general, distributing the basketball to players for transition buckets. He is also able to drive to the basket taking the rock to the rim himself. He scored 19 points in a season opening win over Ponte Vedra, and against Beachside led the team It’s a major reason the Eagles are soaring early.

The 6 foot 8 Bennett Krause, is a player you cant miss on the court. His size creates natural mismatches down low on offense, and clogs the lane on defense. His presence gives Paxon a shot blocking athlete down low in the paint. Another player that has stepped up big so far this season is Jacob Santos. The Senior has provided lots of leadership on the court and is relied upon to make the big shot when needed.

Other players of note are Jaceon Hughes, Delvin Bell, and Brysan Yearby all seniors providing the leadership needed on and off the court. It’s that leadership that allows the offense to move very smoothly, and the defense to play hard every night. Several players move without the ball and know exactly where their teammates are at all times.

Paxon has averaged 50.3 points per game this season and holding opponents to a 44.2 point average this year. Head Coach Kenneth Elliott is once again guiding his team to exceptional heights this season. They have wins over Ponte Vedra, University Christian, Nease, and Ribault, all of whom were playoff teams from a year ago.
In fact two of those teams advanced to the Final 4 in Lakeland, with Ponte Vedra making to the 6A state championship. That’s where Paxon intends to go this year, and they have a team that can make it there, as long as they keep soaring. Next up for the Golden Eagles is a big matchup at Jackson (5-3) on Friday, December 15th.
