Fleming Island- It was a game that went down to the last second. Yet in the end, Ribault would come out victorious defeating Bolles 55-53 to win the Battle on the Island holiday tournament. Ribault’s win marked back-2-back Battle on the Island green division championships for the Trojans.
Ribault was led by Caleb Williams who scored 26 points in the championship game against Bolles. Jamian Jackson pitched in scoring19 points in the title game. Caleb Williams named tournament MVP. All-Tournament Team members included Ribault’s Jamian Jackson and Jaheim Robinson, as well as Finley Bredehoeft and Kaden Ferguson of Bolles.
However, Caleb Williams put on a show in the tournament, scoring 34 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing 10 assists in Ribault’s opening tournament 87-66 win over Lake Wales. Williams again led the Trojans scoring 22 points against Columbia in a 57-42 win. Jamian Jackson added 14 pointsfor the Trojans. Zamarion Jones led the Columbia with 13 points, and Jalen Gaskins scored 10 points.
Ribault scored 22-points in the second quarter to build a 35-22 lead at halftime against Columbia. Against Bolles however, they would need a 23-point third quarter to take the lead as they fell behind early. Head coach Charles Showers has prepared his team to be prepared for various situations, which has contributed to the team’s overall success this year. That preparedness is one reason why Ribault outscored Bolles 23-13 enroute to the win.
Ribault (9-3) will have a rematch against Jackson (9-3) on December 27th. The Trojans already bested the Tigers earlier in the year 48-45. They’d love nothing more than to go 2-0 against them, seeing that they won gold division championships at the Battle On The Island.
