Northeast Fl- The rematch between the Bishop Kenny Crusaders (12-11) and the Bolles Bulldogs (10-9) ended similarly to how the matchup went a few weeks ago. In that contest Bishop Kenny would get the close 61-58 win. Friday night, Bishop Kenny started off hot and didn’t look back on their way to a 58-53 victory in the heated Class 4A District 4 rivalry.
Bolles would make the game close though, as the Bulldogs closed the gap on a 10-point Crusaders lead to 4 points when CJ Ennis hit a shot it he the fourth quarter. However Bishop Kenny held onto the lead the entire game.
Bishop Kenny’s two big men, Oluwaji Eziemfe and James Davis III were forces in the paint, grabbing almost every rebound that came off the glass. That paired with guards Drew Jackson and Adam Enoch’s great shooting which helped extend their lead to double digits, and seal the win for the Crusaders.
Despite the loss for the Bulldogs, C.J. Ennis and Simeon Caldwell put up a great fight, keeping the game close majority of the game. The two are multi-sport athletes, excelling in both football and basketball. On the season, Bolles has been led by guards Kaden Ferguson, and Finley Bredehoeft both averaging 13.4 and 13.8 points per game respectively.
University Christian and Bartram Trail are on deck for the Crusaders next before district play. Bolles has Episcopal coming up before district play. With the Bishop Kenny sweep of Bolles on the season, makes the Crusaders favorites headed into the district tournament.
