After Baker County’s Brandie Callaway broke out of a mini slump, staff ace Macy Jackson knew she just had to get three outs to lift the Wildcats to their first state championship.
Jackson did just that.
Callaway drove in the game’s only run in the top of the seventh inning of the 5A state softball final and Jackson retired powerhouse American Heritage-Plantation in order in the bottom half, carrying the Wildcats to a 1-0 win and the state title at Historic Dodgertown on Thursday night. Baker’s title is just the ninth for area programs in state fast-pitch history.
