Spring Football Is Off And Running: Union County Versus University Christian

Jacksonville Fl- The game started off slowly for the fighting Christians. Throwing two interceptions to Union County’s Jesse Chaikin (#4, pictured) who had a monster game with two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a touchdown. Both offenses sputtered for a couple of possessions before Union County’s Drew Simmons scored the first offensive touchdown of the game. University Christian would then answer by scoring a touchdown of their own, which was scored by wide receiver Jenoa Alford.

After a scoreless possession by the Tigers, University Christian would have an opportunity to respond before halftime. The Fighting Christian’s Amare Mack (#2, pictured) would catch a short pass and outrun all the defenders for a 30 yard receiving touchdown.

Union County would open up the second half strong, with a long drive down the field which would result in a receiving touchdown by Jason Buie (#12 Pictured). The rest of the second half was filled with both teams practicing different in game scenarios like red zone and hurry up offense.

The game was great for both teams to get different looks and measure how their team is looking going into the summer. University Christian looks to have a team with lots of potential next fall, needing to clean up some sloppy turnovers and mistakes. Union County looks to have a great team with lots of great athletes, however, their lack of depth and having their stars play both ways could be concerning.
