Mandarin Runs Away With The Win, Snapping 3-Game Losing Streak To Creekside

Mandarin-On Friday night at The Corral, the Mandarin Mustangs began their State championship run versus a tough Creekside team. Looking to avenge last year’s 23-22 loss at Creekside, the Mustangs knew they would be in for a battle against a team that had a 3-game winning streak against them.

The Mandarin offence is loaded with Sr QB Trammell Jones and Sr WR Jaime Ffrench, however the night belonged to the running game.  Deion Winstead had 2 touchdowns to lead the way on the ground.  The Offensive Line pounded the Creekside defense providing gaping holes for the running backs and plenty of time for QB Trammell Jones to pick apart the Creekside secondary. Jones had 3 TD passes including 2 to heralded freshman WR Brysen Wright.

The Mustangs added to Creekside’s misery with 5 takeaways often setting up the vaunted Mustang offence with easy scoring opportunities. Shareef Jackson and Tamajh Mitchell both had second half interceptions with long returns to set up touchdowns for the offense.

Along with Winstead and Wright, Mandarin added touchdown runs from Donte Perry, Ayden Owens and Shaunqueze Foster. Jones threw his 3rd TD pass of the game in the 3rd quarter to Josiah Watkins.
