A Deluge On And Off The Field Highlights Week 3 Power Rankings

With the rain and flooding impacting Northeast Florida, patrons can expect a deluge at the games this week. The fun part is, it’s football weather and nothing better for players than competing in the rain and raining down points. Many teams put up a deluge of points last week. 45 from Nease, 43 from Raines, 42 from Oakleaf, and 41 from Bolles. Check how how they rank this week after those performances.

  1. Bradford (2-0)- No team has played a harder schedule than Bradford defeating Baker County an then Dunnellon two very tough teams in the state. Jeremiah McKenzie played a complete game with 2 punt blocks a rushing TD and led the team in tackles. Their defense with Brian Cliffin III tied for lead in tackles and 6 foot4 linebackers/ D-Ends Duke Lewis, Jamarian Foye, and Jeremiah Hill make it a long day for opponents. Home vs South Sumter (1-1)

2. Nease (2-0)- The Panthers jumped up 5 spots from #7 last week after two impressive victories over rival foes. It’s not just the victories, but how the victories are coming. They’ve held consecutive opponents Creekside and Ponte Vedra to just 7 points. For a comparison, Ponte Vedra put 28-points on Bartram, but was held to just 7-points by Nease. Joe Miracle has 3.5 sacks, an interception in two games. On offense Nate Harry has 405 yards passing and 5 TDs in two games. Their raining down points and defense so far.

3. Raines (2-0)- The Vikings remain at #3 after a complete shellacking of Sandalwood. Kaleb Lampkins had 2 touchdowns in the game rushing and receiving. The Saints are a very bad team, so Raines did not have competition to measure themselves by. They won’t get competition this week either as they face a Trinity Christian team was just blown out by Bolles, a team they defeated in week 1. A win over Trinity would give Raines it’s first over the Conquerors in a matchup that started in spring of 2016.

4. St. Augustine (2-0)- The Yellow Jackets have a big test against Bolles this week. The game features two of the highest recruited talent rosters in the country. For St. Augustine, wide receivers Carl Jenkins Jr (3-star), Somourion Wingo (4-star), and quarterback Locklan Hewlett (3-star)

St. Augustine and Palatka met for the 106th time at Bennett-Cooper Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Palatka on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024. It was a night where both teams celebrated the life of the late Robert Gillon, a 15-year-old sophomore within the Palatka football program who died on Aug. 13. St. Augustine won 42-6 to take a 59-44-3 advantage in the series. (Photo by Will Brown)

5. Oakleaf (2-0) – The Knights move up a spot, although they were not challenged this week by Orange Park 42-0 win. They may run into a bigger challenge this Friday against Fleming Island. Christopher Foye ran for 128-yards and 3 touchdowns against the Raiders. Fleming Island gave up 6 touchdowns to Riverside last week, so look for quarterback Jack McKissock to have a big afternoon.

6. Mandarin (2-0)- The Mustangs had a domination performance against Atlantic Coast, but suffered a devastating blow losing quarterback Tramell Jones Jr to a potentially season ending injury. Now a freshman quarterback in Knox Annis steps in, and although he is good, the team will struggle to throw the ball. That’s the only reason the Mustangs have fallen. They will use their stable of running backs and outstanding defense to keep wins coming.

7. Bolles (1-1)– The Bulldogs bounced back impressively with a blow-out win over Trinity last week. They quickly turn the page to undefeated St. Augustine. The matchup again, features two of the highest recruited talent rosters in the country. For Bolles, wide receiver Naeem Burroughs (4-star), tight end Corbyn Fordham (4-star). This would be a big win for them, to go 2-1 against Raines, Trinity and St. Augustine.

8. Fletcher (2-0)- The Senators move up two spots in the rankings after a 28-14 win over Terry Parker. Jahmyri Jennings had 2 TDs in the game. He’s got 4 touchdowns on the season. They face an Atlantic Coast (1-1) team that was shut out by Mandarin. Fletcher should start the season 3-0

9. Ponte Vedra (1-1)- It was a great bounce back performance from Ponte Vedra, defeating Bartram 28-21. Drew Price passed for 152 yards and 2 TDs. Brian Case rushed for 138 yards and 2 TDs in two games. He’s also caught a touchdown. It doesn’t get any easier as Baker County (2-0) visits today.

10. Bartram Trail (2-1)– Bartram got a huge overtime win over Ware County 43-42 in overtime Thursday night. It was a great rebound after falling to Ponte Vedra last week. Jaden Weatherly has passed for over 200 yards in back to back contests. He has 7 touchdowns on the season. Arthur Lewis IV rushed for 224 yards against Ware Co. He has 47 yards rushing and 4 TDs in just three games.

Outside Looking In : Baker County (1-1), Bishop Kenny(2-0), Columbia (1-1), Beachside (2-0), Tocoi Creek (2-0)
