With the rain pouring down, both offenses couldn’t find the end zone until the Knights found a way to kick a field goal making it 10-0. Building leads has been customary for Oakleaf early in the 2024 season, however the Eagles would find a way to erase that lead when Akron commit Cibastian Broughton tossed a beautiful pass to Trace Burney to find the end zone making the score 10-7.

The Eagles defense would then step up to the plate. They generated a big stop to give the ball back to the offense. This would allow Cibastian Broughton to do his thing again, rushing for a touchdown right before the half. Fleming Island would to take the lead over Oakleaf 13-10.

After the half, Fleming Island would get the ball yet fumble on the Knights side of the field, as the Knights recovered. The mistake in such a close rivalry game would prove costly as the Knights took advantage. Mckissock would turn around and hand off the ball again to Foy II for his second rushing touchdown of the night to take the lead 17-13.
The Knights and Eagles both had big defensive stops all night. Case in point, when Oakleaf seemed like they would control the clock and capitalize on a drive late in the second half, Fleming Island would make one of those big stops.
