Mandarin Storms To An Easy Victory Over Sandalwood, In Preparation For Showdown With The Tornadoes

Jacksonville Fl- Mother Nature tried to slow down the Mandarin Mustangs on Friday night, she was unsuccessful.  The Mustangs cruised to an easy victory against the Sandalwood Saints despite weather that had ducks running for shelter.

In a game that had multiple weather delays QB Knox Annis had 3 first half TD’s and the offensive line nicknamed Bad Company paved the way for the talented quartet of running backs to keep the Saints on their heels all game. Mix in a punt return for a TD by Tamajh Mitchell and you have a 41-0 Mustang win.

The Mustangs started fast as they have done all season with Annis hitting Ethan “Red” Sherman on a 33yd TD to take a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter, he followed that up with scoring strikes to Freshman phenom Brysen Wright from 45yds out and 2-way stud Kameron Mills from 35 yds out.

Once the Mustangs were satisfied with their aerial assault, they turned it over to the ground game, they finished the game with 272 yds rushing the talented stable of running backs was lead by Deion Winstead’s 88 yds and Donte Perry had 10 carries for 73 yds, Ayden Owens scored a TD and had 4 carries for 63 yards, Quez Foster rounded out the group’s effort with 3-45 yds.

Senior safety Drake Stubbs had and INT and OLB Kam Mills and the Mustang D-Line lived in the Saints backfield all night paving the way for the Mustangs defense  to play 8 straight quarters of shutout football.

Next Friday night the Mustangs will travel to perennial powerhouse Bradford in their first road test of the year, Bad Company better bring their A-game for the mustangs to come out on top. Should be a classic game next Friday night in Starke.

Both the Mandarin Mustangs and the Bradford Tornadoes come into the contest undefeated, and will be looking to prove to the state who the best team in North Florida is. Mandarin was the Class 4M state runners-up last year, while Bradford was the Class 2S runners-up. Bradford defeated South Sumpter 28-7 last week.
