Stallions Trample Eagles, As Providence And Christ Church Both Come Away 6-1

Jacksonville Fl- Due to hurricane Milton, all high school football games were wither cancelled or rescheduled. Most were rescheduled to Monday, however Providence and Christ’s Church Academy decided to face off on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

Both teams started off slow, both teams would sputter on offense to open the game. Providence would then force a fumble and Sam Hayward would make a big recovery. A couple plays later, Mason Williams would take the designed quarterback run 60-yards to open the scoring for the game. The following extra point would be no good. The first quarter would end with Providence up just 6-0.

Early in the second quarter, Mason Williams would connect with Jake Contner to extend the Stallion lead. Providence would go for 2 and convert. CCA would find a spark on offense, as they let running back Kyree Wilson do some strong running almost the entire drive, setting them up nicely in the red zone. However, the Providence defense would hold strong.

Sam Heyward forced a huge fumble, allowing Providence to get the ball back with about 40 seconds left in the first half. This would not be a problem for Mason Williams, who completed a couple long passes downfield, before finding Noah Johnson, who would split two Eagles defenders, and extend the lead to 21 before halftime.

The second half would start off similarly to how the first half ended. Mason Williams would once again, find Noah Johnson for another touchdown to extend the Stallion lead to 28-0. CCA would then begin a long drive down the field.

CCA quarterback Drew Zak would look towards the end zone to cut into the lead. However, Jaden Jablonski would come up with his second interception of the afternoon. Early in the fourth quarter, Mason Williams would score again, using his legs and running for his fifth touchdown of the game.

After the long touchdown run by Williams, there would be a running clock the rest of the game. Not much action happened until late in the forth quarter when CCA finally got on the board, allowing Kyree Wilson to punch it in for a short run. The final score would be Providence 35, Christ’s Church Academy 7.

Christ’s Church fell to 6-1 on the season, suffering their first loss. It was a loss that stings, because their record suggested that they would be more competitive in the contest. However, Providence, showed why they are deeper and have more playmakers as skill positions. It’s why they approved to 6-1, their loss only coming at the hands of Palatka.
