Several local teams won their districts advancing to the 2024 FHSAA Volleyball playoffs. There also were several teams that won a bid to the playoffs, and made the most of their opportunity. Class 1A Region 1
Beaches Chapel (14-4), St. John’s Country Day (12-15)
Beaches Chapel came in as the runners up in district 1A-2 to Harvest Community. They were seeded as the #4 team in the region led by Cloe McGowen (40 kills, 17 blocks), Emma Loboda (15 digs), and Arielle Kindruck (29 assists).
However, they were upset by the #5 seeded St. John’s Country Day Spartans, winners in district 1A-3. They defeated Beaches Chapel 3-0. Brynn White has led St. John’s Country day in kills (151), Hadley Dantzler leads the team in blocks (16) and aces (43). Olivia Clark leads in digs (162), and assists (394).
St. John’s Country Day ( Orange Park Fl) advances to the Regional Semifinals to face #1 seed St. John Lutheran (Ocala Fl) on 10/26/24
Harvest Community (18-8), Christ’s Church (9-14)
#2 seeded Harvest Community defeated Christ’s Church 3-0 to advance to the Class 1A regional semifinals. Elina Adhikari is Harvest Community’s leader in kills with 258 on the season. Pria Adhikari leads the team in digs (306) and Peyton Cooper leads in assists (593). Their 18-8 record couldn’t have been achieved without Taylor Marts (69 blocks) and Madison Maple (47 aces). They face Meadowbrook Academy (Ocala Fl) on 10/26/24.
Class 1A Region 1
#8 Seed Bishop Snyder (18-9) finished 3rd in district 2A-2. They were led by Natalie Harvey has 255 kills, Faith Kennedy has 82 aces and 686 assists, Nina Bordinca and Harvey lead with 43 and 49 blocks respectively. Gabriella Ann Michael leads with 353 digs. Snyder unfortunately fell to #1 Seed Trinity Catholic (Ocala, Fl) 3-0.
#4 Providence (13-7) fell to #5 Oak Hall 3-0 in the first round of the playoffs. Providence finished 4th in district 2A-2. They were led by Isabela Lopez 330 kills, Emma Clifton 39 aces and 531 assists, Julianna Baskin (37 blocks), and Addison Shaw 179 digs.
#6 Trinity Christian 13-14 (Jax) defeated #3 Foundation Academy (17-5) 3-2 to advance to the regional semifinal. It was a big upset by the Conquerors. Amaria King (403 kills), (332 digs), Ariel Ross (44 aces), Lily Simmons (367 assists), Tyauna Williams (55 blocks), all have led the team this year. They finished 5th in district 2A-2.
