Landrum Lions Return To Championship Glory Roaring To Victory Over Swiss Point

The Landrum Lions won the 2024 SJMSAA Football championship Wednesday night, defeating Swiss Point 21-8. For Landrum, it is their third football championship in the modern playoff system of the SJMSAA.

The first half would start off very strong for the Landrum Lions, who were able to march down the field and score a quick touchdown on their opening drive of the game. The receiving touchdown would be scored by their number one pass catcher who had no problem getting into the endzone.

After the opening drive, there would be a stalemate the remainder of the first half, as both teams failed to score any points and the score at halftime would remain 7-0. Swiss Point would get the ball to open the second half, but the struggles on offense would continue for the Raiders.

On their first possession of the second half, Landrum would put together a great drive which resulted in their number one wearing the number #1 and finding the end zone for the second time of the night. The Lions would go up 14-0.

Landrum scored two touchdowns on offense in the championship game.

The struggles on offense would continue for the raiders as they didn’t score any points through the third and most of the fourth quarter. The Landrum defense should be credited for making it tough for Swiss Point on the night as the Raiders went 6-1 on the season.

With about a minute left in the game, Landrum would get a huge interception and return it for a touchdown to extend the lead to 21 points. Landrum went 4-3-1 on the season, but were in some battles during the season. This game showed they were battle tested, as they found different ways to score.

Swiss point would finally be able to put a scoring drive together, eventually finding the end zone as time expired on the clock. The final score was 21-8, as the Landrum Lions would win the championship.
