St. Augustine (10-1) eliminated Ed White (8-4) in a Region 1-4A semifinal on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024. St. Augustine’s win was the Yellow Jackets’ fifth straight in the series. The game featured Ed White’s Joshua Patterson, a 2025 3-star defensive back (Iowa State commit) who would match up with 2026 4-star wide receiver Somourian Wingo. The two would battle all game, both getting the best of one another.
St. Augustine 7- Ed White 0, 11:46 1Q. Trenton Jones had reservations for six. He took the opening kickoff 85 yards to the end zone.
Jones fast start was reminiscent of his state championship performance last year versus Mainland (Daytona). On the opening kickoff of that game, Trenton Jones took the run back 96-yards for the game’s first touchdown. The wide receiver set the tone early for the Jackets as they dominated the first half of the championship game. He did so again in this contest versus Ed White.
St. Augustine 14- Ed White 0, 2:03 1Q Trenton Jones ran across the formation in motion, caught a pass on the flat and jogged into the end zone for his second tuddy of the night. This time it was an 11-yard touchdown.
Jones showed why he wears the No. 1 jersey. Jones scored three touchdowns to help St. Augustine secure another 10-win season.
