Fletcher Girls Soccer Ends Regular Season Tops In County And Ready For Playoffs

Jacksonville Fl- The Fletcher high school girls soccer team ended their regular season with a 5-1 victory over Stanton to win the Duval County Girls Soccer Gateway Conference Championship. The Senators took down defending Gateway Conference Champion Stanton. Goals from five different Senators, including Riley Chapman, and Stella Peterson, led the way for Fletcher.

Fletcher is no stranger to success. The team won their first ever state championship defeating Lourdes ( Miami) 1-0 in 2022. Fletcher became the only Duval County public school in history to win a soccer championship.

This year’s team is made up of some dynamic playmakers including senior Emma McMurry who leads them with 13 goals on the season. Sophomore Alexandria Mai who has 11 goals on the season, and junior Anastasia Virata who has 6 goals on the season .

Junior Sienna Dancel leads the team in assists with 9 followed by senior Ava Amalberti with 6. Junior Ryann Clowers has 36 saves as goalie and has been instrumental in making sure opponents have less points at the end of each contest.

Fletcher ends the regular season 13-2-1 with big victories over team like Stanton, and Tocoi Creek. Tough losses to a 12-3 St. Johns Country Day team, and a 10-1 Bartram Trail team are the only blemishes on an otherwise successful season.

Now head coach Philip Dancel and company turn their attention to district tournament play. They lead all teams in Class 6-2A district with wins over Oakleaf, Mandarin, and First Coast during the regular season. The team is primes for a playoff push, and look to make history again.
