Providence Turns It Up A Level Versus San Jose Prep, Advances to Next Level In Lakeland

The Providence Stallions are Final Four bound! In a dominant Elite 8 performance, Providence took down San Jose Prep 64-41, continuing their impressive playoff run. With the win, the Stallions improved to 23-6 and are now just two wins away from a state championship.

Balanced Scoring Leads the Way

Providence has been dangerous all season thanks to its well-rounded attack. Kasey Davey, who averages 14.0 points per game, and Janie Boyd, who puts up 12.7 per game, have been key offensive weapons. But they’re far from the only threats.

In their Sweet 16 victory over Trinity Catholic, four players scored in double figures—Julianna Baskin (18 points), Janai Jordan (16 points), Davey (14 points), and Kennedy Loux (11 points). Loux also leads the team with 4.2 assists per game, proving that Providence knows how to share the ball.

Janai Jordan and Janie Boyd both scored their 1000th point this year. Jordan is committed to West Florida, and Boyd is committed to the University of the South.

In the opening round of the playoffs against Oak Hall, Boyd scored 16 points, Davey added 15 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks, and Baskin chipped in 12. No matter the opponent, the Stallions find ways to put points on the board.

A Battle-Tested Team

Under Head Coach Gigi Bistrow, Providence has built a strong resume, taking down top teams like Bolles, Beachside, and Tocoi Creek—two of which have also made the Final Four. Their ability to win big games has prepared them for the tough road ahead. Bistrow is no stranger to the Final 4. She has won more than 500 games and has led the Stallions to the Final Four in each of the last three seasons.

Next Up: Holy Trinity Episcopal

The Stallions’ next test comes against Holy Trinity Episcopal (22-6) in the state semifinals. The Tigers are led by 8th-grade sensation Leila Bryant, who averages an impressive 18.6 points per game. Head Coach Will Gibson has led his team to their first ever Final 4 appearance. Providence will need to bring their best defense to slow down Bryant and company, but with their depth and experience, they have all the tools to get the job done.

With a balanced offense, strong defense, and a championship mindset, the Stallions are ready for the challenge. Can they keep their playoff magic alive and punch their ticket to the state finals? Stay tuned!
