Former Fleming Island Flag Football Star London Jenkins Earns Spot on U.S. Women’s Flag National Team

Jacksonville native London Jenkins has reached the pinnacle of flag football competition, earning a coveted spot on the U.S. Women’s Flag National Team. The standout wide receiver and defensive back, currently playing college flag football at Florida Gateway College in Lake City, FL, will now represent her country on the international stage.

Jenkins’ journey to the national team began in high school at Fleming Island, where she established herself as a dynamic two-way player. In her senior year, she recorded an impressive 14 interceptions, 780 rushing yards, and 440 receiving yards—statistics that solidified her reputation as one of the most versatile athletes in the sport.

She was named Jacksonville Jaguars Prep Flag Football Player of the Year, and is widely regarded as the best flag football player in Northeast Florida history.

Her selection to the U.S. Women’s Flag National Team places her among the elite athletes in the game, as USA Football—the sport’s governing body and a recognized organization by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC)—selects only the best to compete at the highest levels. The team competes in world-class tournaments, including the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) World Championships, the World Games, and, soon, the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Jenkins now joins a program with a history of dominance. The U.S. National Teams entered the most recent IFAF World Championships in Lahti, Finland, as the top-ranked squads in the world. The U.S. Women’s Flag National Team claimed gold by defeating Mexico 31-18, a game broadcast on the Olympic Channel and IFAF.TV, proving their supremacy on the global stage.

With the 2028 Olympics on the horizon, Jenkins’ selection could be the beginning of a historic journey, where she has the potential to shine on one of the biggest stages in sports. For now, she is focused on training and competing at the highest level, proving that she belongs among the world’s best in flag football.
