As a four-star rated athlete and as the No. 29 safety prospect nationally and No. 61 overall prospect in Florida by 247Sports, Kenton Kirkland commanded the attention of almost every major D-1 program in the country. He was ranked 35th at his position by ESPN and 47th by On3. On the field Kirkland made 49 tackles, including 1.0 for loss, and 2 interceptions his senior season while helping lead Raines to regional final round of 2M state playoffs. He was named to a 2022 Florida Times-Union Super 11. Kirkland also ran track anchoring the 2A state champion 4×400 relay team and finished third in 400 at state championship meet. Speed runs in the family as he has two older sisters who both are collegiate sprinters. The two sport athlete capped his high school career as a 5-Star Duval Sports First Team Prime Time Player.
Signed with FSU in 2023, appearing in five game making collegiate debut in season-opening 45-24 victory vs. No. 5 LSU.
